Treatments

Dr. Simone may recommend a combination of the following treatments as part of your treatment and wellness plan:

Clinical Nutrition

The foundations of Naturopathic Medicine are rooted in nutrition and the therapeutic use of micronutrients and macronutrients. Nutritional status is associated with a variety of health conditions. Naturopathic Doctors help patients understand the relationship between food and their health status to assist them in making healthy eating choices that support their long term goals for health and wellness.

Prevention and Lifestyle Counselling

Naturopathic Doctors evaluate all the factors which influence health and support their clients in making healthy informed choices in the present to prevent future illness. Naturopathic Doctors are trained to make recommendations regarding the management of stress and life events, social support and relationships as well as occupational and environmental factors contributing to wellness.

Botanical Medicine

Naturopathic Doctors are trained to use medicinal whole plants as well as their isolated constituents in the treatment of a variety of health conditions. Naturopathic Doctors prescribe botanical medicines based on research to ensure a safe and therapeutic dose is delivered for highest level of effectiveness. Botanicals are administered in various forms such as tinctures, capsules and teas. Naturopathic Doctors are trained to carefully evaluate a person’s health condition taking into consideration potential interactions between botanical and over–the-counter and prescription pharmaceutical medications.

Homeopathic Medicine

Using Homeopathic Medicine, Naturopathic Doctors prescribe remedies that are made from minute amounts of diluted plant, animal and mineral substances. Homeopathic Medicine views the client’s symptoms as an expression of an imbalance in the body’s energy or “vital force.” A correct prescription stimulates the body’s vital force to heal and rebalance itself with minimal adverse effects.

Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine views a person’s health as a dynamic balance of the flow of energy or “Qi” and its effects on various organ systems. Its abstract view of health determines patterns of imbalance within various organ systems and substances which make up a person. The flow of Qi throughout the body can be regulated through acupuncture, where very thin needles are inserted into skin and muscle at specific points along the meridian. A Naturopathic Doctor will use Chinese patent herbs and acupuncture to assist the body in regulating the Qi and achieving balance.

Physical Medicine

Physical Medicine encompasses naturopathic manipulation of the spine, soft tissue work, the use of water and its therapeutic properties (hydrotherapy), therapeutic exercise prescription, ultrasound, diathermy, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Physical Medicine can be beneficial for the management of pain.

Fees and Your Health Insurance

Most insurance plans will cover you for some or all of your Naturopathic visits. If you have questions, please contact your plan administrator to find out how much your plan covers and how to submit claims. Dr. Simone is happy to assist to ensure you leave with the appropriate documentation.

Telephone consults can be scheduled for patients in lieu of an in-office visit only after an initial visit has been conducted and a treatment plan has been initiated.

Most extended health insurance plans cover naturopathic visits. Please contact your insurance company to find out your specific coverage. Full payment is due at the time of the visit, and you will be issued a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company.

Recommended laboratory tests, nutritional supplements, herbal supplements and homeopathic remedies are not included in naturopathic visit fees.

*All visit fees are tax exempt as of February 2014.
